The story

The premise.

A scientific team has found the impossible: Jurassic fossils sealed beneath the cenotes of Yucatán. They need young explorers. Your family just volunteered.

Expedición ULUM: El Despertar Jurásico is our first experience designed exclusively for families with children aged eight to twelve. Built around the premise of a real scientific expedition, the attraction transforms a PortAventura space into a luminous Yucatán cenote. Children become archaeologists, descend into glowing water, uncover fossils that no museum has ever seen — and discover a plot twist that turns a documentary mission into the family memory they'll retell for years. The tone is wonder, not horror. The science is real enough. The ending rewrites everything.

    Week 1–2

    Partnership with paleontologists and Yucatán cultural advisors. Child-psychology consultation for age-appropriate wonder and fear thresholds.

  2. 02 · Story & script
    Week 3–7

    Narrative co-written with children's literature specialists. Four-language simultaneous script development.

  3. 03 · Underwater CGI
    Week 8–18

    Bespoke underwater rendering pipeline. Volumetric light through water built from scratch. Fossil design reviewed by real paleontologists.

  4. 04 · On-site build
    Week 19–22

    Physical cenote set design, hardware integration with buoyancy props, staff training for working with children.

  5. 05 · Launch
    2025

    Opened with a free preview season to celebrate the children who test it. Paid operations from the 2026 season.
